Mark your calendars for the 8th Annual Connector Workshop (Red-Righting, Tongue-Upping the World since 2016) to be held at the home of Jeff – KB3SPH and Pam – KB3SWS, 2815 Butterfly Pl, Indian Head, MD. 20640.

When: Sunday, 10 September 2023, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Please plan to arrive between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Who: Any interested person. This email is being sent to local area amateur radio operators. Please feel free to forward this email to any individual/group that may have an interest.

What: Free Connector Workshop focusing on learning about and constructing assemblies using Anderson PowerPoles and various other connectors.

This year’s agenda includes a “Make & Take” project; a PowerPole 4-way splitter. The splitter is similar to: https://www.ebay.com/itm/142789927844 for $33.00! The workshop project cost is only $10.00 per splitter. You could build 3 splitters for less than the cost of the e-bay offering.

For logistics purposes, please let me know if you want to participate in the project and how many splitter kits you want. I will purchase the kit parts in advance, based on the number of responses and collect kit payment at the workshop.

Agenda:

- Brief on how to use Anderson PowerPole connectors (the ARES/RACES standard) and demonstrations/displays of various configurations to assemble.

- Detailed demonstration of modifications to a Powerwerx Battery Box to include LiFePO4 battery installation, solar power controller integration, and construction/use of SB50 (50 amp) PowerPole connectors.  We will gauge interest in having a late fall 2023/early winter 2024 additional workshop day to build battery boxes.

- Make & Take Project: 4-way PowerPole Splitter

Why: Get the creative juices flowing!

Notes:

*No experience is necessary. Come and learn from others! If you have a situation where you need assistance in choosing or building a connector for your equipment, please bring that equipment to the workshop and let the “Brain Trust” have a crack at solving the issue.

*Basic equipment/tools will be available for sharing, but you can also provide your own, as desired.

*You do not have to participate in the Make & Take project to attend the workshop.

*Pam – KB3SWS will have her smörgåsbord available throughout the afternoon.
